**Visakha Bucha** is one of the greatest festivals in Buddhism, celebrated by Buddhists around the world to commemorate three great events of the Buddha** that occurred on the same day, the **15th day of the month of Visakha**, only in different years.
The following are the main meanings of Visakha Bucha:
### 1. Birth
He was born on Friday, the 15th day of the month of Visakha, 80 BC in Lumbini Park (now in Nepal). His birth was the incarnation of the "light illuminating the world" to help save beings from suffering.
### 2. Enlightenment
After a six-year struggle to find the Dhamma, he attained the enlightenment of **Anuttarasammāsamvaramāgniññā** (knowing the whole truth of the Dhamma) on Wednesday, the 15th day of the month of Visakha, the year of Raka, at the age of 35, under a Bodhi tree near the mouth of the Neranjara River.
### 3. Passing Away
He passed away on Tuesday, the 15th day of the month of Visakha, the year of Masan, at the age of 80, between two sycamore trees in the city of Kusinārā. This passing away was the irrevocable departure of the body, but his Dhamma and teachings continued to exist.
