Cambodia’s Lost Heritage:
These three pictures, taken at the Angkor Conservation Depot in Siem Reap, demonstrate the severe looting that has taken place at Cambodia’s sacred temples over the past half a century and more. In their haste to steal these priceless artifacts, thieves sliced off the statues of the gods at the ankles, leaving just the feet and pedestal in place. The push to repatriate Khmer art from overseas is reaching new heights in recent years, and pictures like this show exactly why that must continue, more forcibly than ever before. These invaluable sculptures were stolen from Cambodia and they need to be returned, from whoever is holding them today.Credit By :andy.brouwer
