Phnom Penh: In daily life, everyone often experiences stress and crises that make people complex, think a lot, worry, can't sleep, can't eat, which leads to mental illness and many factors that make the mind unhappy. What should you do to train your mind to be calm and happy? Meditation is a powerful medicine that can help strengthen your mental health and make you strong and resilient. It can control your mind from thinking too much, too complicated, and too messy. In addition, regular meditation can reduce high blood pressure, chronic pain, and make your brain clear and fresh. But not many people take the time to meditate every day. There are over 40 ways to calm the mind, such as meditation, vipassana, meditation, using candlelight as a guide to calm the mind, and remembering the Buddha. One method that is easy to do and that many people like to do is apanapashti, which means regulating the in and out of the respiratory tract. Apanapashti is a type of meditation for making the mind even, not restless, not happy, not excited, and not afraid. That is, keeping the mind in one feeling in order to achieve peace and tranquility by abstaining from all passions. It leads to physical well-being and mental calmness.
This type of meditation can be practiced in four ways: lying down, walking, standing, and sitting.
Venerable Kou Sopheap, a resident of Wat Nigrothawan, also known as Wat Koul Toeng and a professor at the Pannasastra University of Cambodia, recently said that meditation originated before the Buddha’s enlightenment, when people would go into the forest to meditate and calm their minds. However, when the Buddha became enlightened, he added another type of meditation, vipassana, which involves seeking truth in nature.
Meditation is very beneficial for people because it is a medicine and a mental refuge that helps relieve tension, stress, and prevents mental garbage such as anger, jealousy, envy, resentment, resentment, anger, hatred, resentment, fear, worry, and seeking all kinds of ways to destroy others who come to disturb and disturb the mind.
Venerable Koo Sopheap further explained: “This meditation is considered a cure for mental illness, and we all have mental problems, so everyone, whether at home, working in the public or private sectors, young or old, should have time to educate their minds and meditate often, for 5 to 10 minutes, monitoring their breathing, or spreading compassion to themselves and to the people around them.”
However, he emphasized that meditation also needs to be guided by a teacher so that the mind does not wander.
To make meditation effective, you should meditate in a quiet place with good air and atmosphere, without any other distractions. We can choose any of the four methods that we find easy. If you choose to sit, first sit cross-legged or cross-legged, but sit with your back straight, then close your eyes and breathe in and out, and calm your mind. For those who are just starting out, this may be difficult. The mind should be calm and relaxed. If you feel restless and confused, try taking deep breaths again, then relax and focus. If you do it regularly every day, you will really feel good and calm.
It is true that when we feel positive, our mind is calm, our muscles relax and get enough oxygen, blood pressure is lower and, most importantly, our heart rate is reduced, which is an important part of supporting our body to be healthy. At the same time, positive thinking is one of the most effective ways to reduce stress.
In daily life, positive thinking makes it easier for us to create understanding and harmony with others around us, and creates an optimistic and hopeful outlook on life.
On the contrary, when we have negative thoughts in our minds, it can cause many bad effects on our health, both physically and mentally. The fact that some people like to think negatively can be caused by stress at work, study, or daily problems. Credit By:...kohsantepheapdaily
